Thanks Ailsa for this week’s theme ” Up”.

There were so many photos and interpretations I could have posted in response to this week’s theme, but I once again took an off beat idea and voila, here is my post !
Around 5 years ago I visited Central America on a 6 week oddessy across the continent. Our final destination: Costa Rica – a stunning country – a mecca for nature and adventure lovers. The “Pura Vida”.
Having spent most of our trip under what we called the travelling ” black rain cloud” , and moving through the country at quite a rapid rate, there was not a lot of opportunity to dry off or wash our clothing, quite standard for your backpacking sorts like myself.
On our last day in town, I went on a mountain bike ride to the local waterfall in La Fortuna.
After spending half the trip pushing my bike up the enormous hills to the waterfall and rain forest I went “hell for leather” on the decline, descending rapidly with mud spraying all over me, as in literally all over me, head to toe.
I arrived back in town looking like what my friend described as ” an aboriginal dot painting”.
I was now officially out of dry, clean clothes.
The solution ?
A genius idea offered by my Central American friends travelling with us, the ceiling fan or as I aptly named it – “The Central American clothes dryer”
Why had I not thought of that ? Travellers improvisation at its finest.
It was only upon my return to Australia and after putting my travel photos on Facebook that I recieved this comment on my pic of the “dryer” from my Columbian friend Andrea:
“We said under the fan, not on the fan!!! “
Hilarious.
I clearly missed the “under” part !
So my message to you is, if you don’t look “up” you will miss the brighter side of life, and hilarious scenes like these
